Country lodging on Kibbutz Yahel in the Arava

Ma’ayan Ba’midbar is situated in the heart of the desert, surrounded by beautiful mountains and is approximately 65 kilometers north of Eilat.

The country style guest rooms are surrounded by the open desert view facing the red mountains with a cool breeze, green grass, prospis plants, Poinciana plants and palm trees all giving you our guests a warm and authentic kibbutz welcome. Here you will enjoy a peaceful and relaxing holiday while enjoying the tranquil desert in front of you.

At Ma’ayan Ba’midbar there are 3 room types at different levels. The Tamar rooms (hostel type rooms), country accommodation (for families) and accommodation for couples.

Each room is on the ground floor and is surrounded by lovely grass areas, seating and barbeque areas. There are parking facilities near to the rooms and wireless internet in the reception area.

An Israeli breakfast is served in the main dining room of the kibbutz. There is an outdoor swimming pool (in season), sport courts (football, basketball and tennis), playgrounds, treatment rooms and bicycle hiring for individuals and groups.

The Tamar Rooms (Hostel)

These types of rooms are suitable for guests who wish to explore a desert style holiday. The rooms are suitable for groups or families wishing to stay for just one night as a stop over while on their travels.

There are 14 pleasant rooms which offer a quality hostel environment.

The rooms are based in 5 small buildings and in each building there are 3 guest rooms with a shared kitchen with a stove top and microwave.

The rooms have bunk beds and two other separate beds, a small refrigerator, electric kettle, coffee supplies and an adjacent shower and W.C with towels.

The country accommodation (for families)

These 12 quaint rooms offer a special country atmosphere and are suitable for families of 4.

In the rooms you will find a double bed and a bunk bed, air conditioning, cable television, adjacent shower and W.C with towels, kitchenette with a small refrigerator, microwave, electric stove top, disposable kitchenware (bring your own cooking supplies), electric kettle, coffee supplies and a seating area.

Accommodation for couples

These 16 country style accommodation rooms are suitable for couples with up to 3 people in the room. The rooms have a double bed and an opening sofa bed, air conditioning, cable television, adjacent shower and W.C with towels, kitchenette with a small refrigerator, microwave, electric stove top, disposable kitchenware (bring your own cooking supplies), electric kettle, coffee supplies and a seating area.

Families and Groups

The Arava with its endless view is a magical area for family and group tours. There are many walking routes of different levels and sites which offer energetic activities or places for relaxation while taking in the desert atmosphere.

At Ma’ayan Ba’midbar you may hold family gatherings, birthdays, Bar Mitvahs, day tours for companies and organizations, extreme activity days, agricultural tours and bicycle hire, all suitable for families and groups.

Cycling Tours

You are invited to take a special cycling route in the desert, suitable for professionals and for beginners with fast cross country routes, extreme routes and more relaxing routes while viewing the spectacular desert.

Here at Ma’ayan Ba’midbar on Kibbutz Yahel we invite you to take a special bicycle ride and we will take care of all the other services. We can provide package tours including lodging with meals out in the desert and any other luxury you require all at reasonable prices which include the following:

Group tours of Kibbutz Yahel “Agricultural Peace”:

Guided tours around the different branches of the kibbutz to the dairy farm and the animal pens.

The tour includes a visit to the pomelo orchards while you will be able to pick and taste the fruit in season.

The tour also includes stories of the kibbutz today and its history.

Sport courts:

You are invited to enjoy the tennis, basketball and football courts (to be entered with sport shoes only). We recommend that you come equipped with your tennis rackets, balls or footballs.

The swimming pool:

Guests will enjoy free entrance to the swimming pool which is open during the summer season.

The opening hours are available from the reception area and all signage and regulations are to be obeyed by all guests.

Notice for parents:

• Swimming in the toddler’s pool is only by supervision and responsibility of parents.
• The toddler’s swimming pool is suitable for children up to age 6.
• Leaving children unsupervised around the pool is forbidden.

Touring in the area:

The location of Kibbutz Yahel is ideal for touring in the south, such as: Ovda, the Eilat Mountains, Petra, Mitzpe Ramon and the Arava.

Kibbutz Yahel was established in 1977 founded by the reform movement. The kibbutz is in an oasis in the heart of the desert and is surrounded by the desert mountains of the Negev in the south of Israel, between Nahal Achziv in the west and the red mountains in the east.

Yahel is in the northern part of the Hevel Eilot Regional Council which is tied to 10 other kibbutzim in the area. The kibbutz enjoys the coolest climate of the desert and its low humidity and northern breezes ease the summer heat.
