In a nutshell
The Bar-David Museum
The Museum has three stories: The entrance level includes a permanent exhibition of Jewish ritual objects, a replica of an ancient inscribed lintel of a second synagogue of the Mishnah Period (the original remains are in the Louvre in Paris) from Baram Village and a temporary art exhibition from the museum's collection. The upper level consists of a huge exhibition hall for art, sculpture and photography and a small archeology room for displays from the collection. On the lower level, beneath the main entrance are the Youth Wing and workrooms. The Wing presents "The Jewish Nobel Hall of Fame", an interactive computer program in three languages devoted to all Jewish Nobel Prize laureates. In the Sculpture Garden, huge sculptures by Yigal Tomerkin and others are displayed. Group and Family activities and guided tours are offered in several languages for everyone - from kindergarten age to pensioners, immigrant youth, union workers, soldiers and community center members. Programs are available for Bar Mitzvah and understanding of Torah and Jewish holidays. Yearly, a program of study on the museum's exhibitions and geared to age levels. Prior reservation and coordination with staff are required. The Collection is rich in works of well-known artists, as well as artists who are just as talented but less familiar. It includes experimental works, interesting sketches andexploratory works of artists searching for their creative path at the transition between the figurative and abstract movements. The Collection includes works which refer to the Zionist project and give expression to the enchanted Israeli landscape, as well as the humans within it.
